Anthony Robins
I was born in London but grew up in Eastbourne, on the south coast of England.
I have been in Japan between 1983 and 1991 and from 1995. Before working in Japan, I also worked in England and Greece.
I have now been working at
AUE (Aichi University of Education) for more than twenty years.
I am now involved with the
Educational Governance Course, but I am also the final
coordinator of the former International Culture
Course. Some
students will continue to graduate from this course in 2021.
My previous positions in
Japan were at International Language Centre in Tokyo, Toyohashi
University of Technology,
and NIT (Nagoya Institute of Technology). I like to keep in
touch with students and teachers past and present.

A Taste
of Teaching in Australia - The Great Adventure for
the JALT PanSig Conference at Nanzan University, Nagoya, on 18th

A Taste
of Teaching more than 7,000 kilometers from home to the JALT Toyohashi chapter
meeting on 17th February 2013, where three students and I
reflected on our experiences of overseas teaching practice in
Australia in late summer 2012:
Presentations in 2011: Three
were concerned with CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning)
at the 2011 JALT CALL Conference at Kurume University in Kyushu,
at Toyohashi JALT Chapter, and in Manila at Glocall
2011. One was a workshop on 23rd December with Tony
Ryan on the topic of using 'big books' with elementary and
junior high English classes.
I am a long-time member of
JALT (Japan Association for Language Teaching) and have been
active in the organisation.
I am currently Chapter President of JALT Toyohashi Chapter.
I have attended three
Glocall conferences. As well as joining its 2011
conference in Manila, I also joined its conference in Nanjing in
2006 - see pictures
and in Ho Chi Minh City in
2007 - see pictures
I am a member of the Japan Society which is based in London and has published a number of book reviews for the society.
I am particularly concerned
about environmental
activities and am interested in transport,
especially their combination - environmentally friendly

Teaching at AUE gives me the
opportunity to work with groups of cheerful and enthusiastic
students and to supervise graduation
reports on a wide variety of topics. I am supervising three
undergraduate students' theses in the 2021-2 academic year. Find out about
