Transport Koutsuu

I usually commute to the university by train and bus, partly because my hobbies include a great interest in railways and other kinds of transport.

I often take transport photos, as in the case of this new type of hybrid double-decker
bus in London, at Victoria in April 2014:

or these bicycles provided citywide in Brisbane, in a scheme similar to other cities:

or these bullet trains.  First, an N700 type passing Futagawa, near Toyohashi in September 2011:

And another one taken in September 2011 showing a Shin-Aomori bound E5 'Hayabusa' at Tokyo Station:

In 2010, I visited the Akechi Railway (Gifu Prefecture), where they were having two days of test operating JR Hokkaido's DMV (Dual Mode Vehicle) which can operate on road and rail:

I often visit places of transport interest and gather information about railways and travel in Japan for publications including:

Steam trains are always particularly attractive of course and it was great to see degoichi D51 498 passing Kazusa-Nakano in Chiba Prefecture in early February 2007. This locomotive was built in 1940 at Takatori Works, near Kobe and usually operates on the Joetsu Line.
