DECEMBER: PICTURE OF THE MONTH

9th December saw the end of an icon in London. That day was the last day of service of the traditional London bus, with driver and conductor and a rear open platform. After a long life, they are seen as outdated as they have poor accessibility for disabled passengers, their engine emissions are not as clean as newer buses and thy do not have air-conditioning. There's always a slight danger of falling off too!

Routemasters, like this one at Old Oak Common (West London) in 1994 will continue though on two special tourist routes.
