Our most recent meeting:
on Sunday 26th November was with Gabriel Diaz Maggoli on
'Developing Oracy Skills in the Classroom'.

This presentation was part of JALT's annual 'Four Corners' tour featuring speakers from
its international conference in Tsukuba (17th to 20th November). You can see
the PowerPoint slides here.

The development of oracy skills is one of the difficulties that English language
teachers experience. This workshop explored various techniques that get
students talking.... and talking .... and talking. The techniques ranged from
controlled to free, so that they could be usefully applied to the development
of language as a whole, rather than just to the development of oracy skills.
Participants enjoyed a presentation which combined practical activities with
theoretical foundations:

Gabriel Diaz Maggoli's area of research is the application of Sociocultural
