PICTURE OF THE MONTH: HONG KONG

    Scaffolding on a massive
scale and using traditional bamboo, too!
On Nathan Rood, in the busy heart of Kowloon in Hong Kong,
we can see a lattice work
of traditional bamboo scaffolding on a building which which was
      being refurbished.
It symbolises the combination of old and new in Hong Kong. According to the local
'South China Morning Post' in 2013, more than five million bamboo
      rods which are six
to seven metres long, are used every year. At that time, there
      were 1,751 registered
scaffolders. Howeber, there are issues with importing bamboo and
      training new scaffolders,
so the tradition may not last forever.
