October's meeting:

Our October meeting on October 16th was a presentation by representatives of the Nagoya Players, who talked about and demonstrated the use of theatre games in the teaching of English.

Emily Roehl, director of "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead," offered a presentation on the use of theatre games and role-play activities in the English language classroom. In particular, the presentation focussed on role-playing and mimicry as integral parts of the language learning process. This is Emily's first production directing the Players. Before she moved to Japan she studied Theatre and worked on the staff of a non-profit theatre company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Emily was joined by her two lead actors, Cameron Smith (Guildenstern) and Kathi Emori (Rosencrantz), in the presentation as well as presenting a short selection from the play.
