NOVEMBER 2008

Our
November meeting was on 16th November from 1.30 to 4.00 and featured James Venema (Nagoya Women's University) and Bruce McCaughan (We Simplify the Internet) introducing us to their curriculum support website development.

This presentation looked at efforts to use a website to enhance curriculum. Specifically, the following needs were identified:
* An online database which would allow for the sharing of students’ example sentences in a vocabulary course with future students on the same course.
* Online access of locally developed listening materials for a listening and speaking course.
* Online access of administrative and curricular files, for teachers as well as students, for all the courses in the language program.

The presenters briefly outlined the language program and demonstrated how the Nagoya Women's University curriculum website addresses specific program needs, those of teachers and students. They also briefly outlined some technical issues in developing the website.

JALT Toyohashi members could be seen at the JALT's Annual International Conference at the very beginning of November:
