Our next meeting is scheduled for Sunday 30th
September:
Mary Nobuoka on 'Raising Bilingual Children in Japan'
Our July Meeting was on Sunday 29th July:
Daniela Johne and Tony Ryan focussed on
various CLIL approaches and experiences in Italy and Japan.

Daniela Johne-Yamamoto, originally from Germany, has been
teaching CLIL in public schools in Italy for three years. She
will talk about her previous teaching in elementary schools
there and her current work in elementary schools, where she
has created materials and a curriculum for 'earth science'.

Tony Ryan, originally from Australia, will talk about
possibilities for CLIL at elementary school in Japan, based on
lessons he has devised for 6th grade students and experiences
from a CLIL course for teacher trainees in the English course
at Aichi University of Education. He will argue that
elementary school English education in Japan should give a
greater role to process-based syllabi rather than
product-based syllabi, and engage higher levels of
cognition.
