As can be seen below, Belfast is a major port. It was also a key shipbuilding location, prticularly with its famous
company, Harland and Wolff, whose presence is shown by the two large yellow cranes, which can be seen in the
centre of the picture. Also to be seen are wind turbines being assembled.



The city is developing its 'Titanic Quarter' around the shipbuilding area, particularly to remember the famous liner
built here which sank in 1912 when it hit an iceberg. Here is the new exhibition centre, which features modern
comprehensive displays about the building of the liner and its end:



The liner is also commemorated in this memorial outside Belfast City Hall:
