contrast to older traditional buildings is the Sage,
Gateshead, across the river from
Newcastle. It is a music and arts centre which opened in
2004.
As with many other cities in Britain, there has been a long
and varied history of migration.
Here is Newcastle's Chinatown, near Newcastle Central
Station. Although the buildings
are far from modern, this street's development as a
Chinatown hub is quite recent:
