Kuragaike
and Kourankei
On 18th February, I made a trip with five
international students to two nearby places:
Kuragaike Park, east of the centre of Toyota City, and Kourankei,
further east
in Asuke, now part of Toyota City.
First, we visit the Toyota Commemorative Hall. It details
the development of the Toyota car company
from its roots in textile manufacturing. Cars on display
include this Lexus rally car:

We also saw this house built for Kiichiro Toyoda
which originally stood in Yagoto in Nagoya City:

After having a quick look at the small zoo
nearby and something to eat for lunch, we continued to Kourankei.
This location is most famous for views of autumn leaves in that
season. Less crowded in February,
we could see hina matsuri
doll's festival displays dotted around in the town of Asuke, and
take a
kinen shashin
commemorative photo on the bridge at Kourankei:
