In the first term (April to July), we looked at a number of topics:
Comedy - differences in genres and tastes in Britain and Japan
Films - which are appealing and why
Prodigies - children that are pushed to succeed at a young age -the case of Sufiah Yusof who entered Oxford University at 13.
You are Sufiah. Write a letter to your father to explain why you mysteriously disappeared from Oxford.
Successful women in careers - including a Scottish graphic designer
Young people committing serious crimes - looking at these crimes and how they are handled in Britain, Japan and Norway.

Promoting an image of a country abroad. We discussed what features of Japan we would show and found out about the work of the British Council when we met Elizabeth Pike.
