August Picture of the Month
This month's picture shows buildings in Arimatsu, in the south
east of Nagoya.
Arimatsu is famous for its 'shibori' style of dyeing. It is about
25 minutes by
car from the university.

The sign on the building has the place name 'Arimatsu' and
symbolizes
the colours of dyeing.
Although not all the buildings in the area are so historic, there
are efforts
to preserve the atmosphere. A wall was being 'renewed' in 'wattle
and daub'
style techniques, as shown below:
