CLIL Seminar at Waseda University, Tokyo: July 2017.

This seminar was held on 15th July 2017 by the new Japan CLIL Pedagogy Association (J-CLIL)
with around 130 attendees. I attended with my colleague, Tony Ryan:

Particularly prominent were Professor Shigeru Sasajima of Toyo Eiwa University
and Professor Makoto Ikeda of Sophia University, with the former giving the opening address and the latter
speaking on the subject of 'What is 'integration' in CLIL?'. I had previously met Ikeda-sensei at another CLIL
event at Sophia University.

After an introduction of publishers' materials, including information on the new 'Tokyo Global Gateway'
which is due to open in September 2018, parallel sessions were held and I attended a session by Chad
Godfrey of Saitama Medical University on 'The 4Cs of CLIL and Designing Evaluation Criteria', as well
as a session on 'Initial Teacher education for CLIL' with experiences described from both Yokohama and Madrid.

A nearby evening party helped to cement new connections with CLIL practitioners and was very enjoyable.
Among the speakers there was Tony:
