Taka tells you about
Drinking in Britain 2
Meanwhile, Britain seems to be very strict about drinking ethics.
One aspect is age. People can drink alcoholic beverages at the age
of 18,
but it is often the case that you are asked to present
identification to show that you are over that age. Some
supermarkets are stricter
and they ask all the people who look like they are under 25 years
of age to show such proof. Another aspect is that drinking is
prohibited
in some areas. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to drink beer
under the iconic Big Ben or around the Westminster Palace (Houses
of Parliament);
otherwise your drink could be subject to confiscation by the
police if you catch their attention. It’s because they are public
areas for all the people,
including local residents and tourists. You may not want to see
riots caused by drunk people in such beautiful places.
As a student in London, I enjoyed drinking beer with my friends
and my teachers very much. In my opinion, as long as you are aware
of the proper
way of consuming them, alcoholic beverages will enrich your table
and will be a good boost in making friends with many people.
However, you
must be careful; otherwise you could be ‘wasted’ or ‘pissed’.
