PICTURE
OF THE MONTH: JUNE 2015
A recent hot day near the entrance to the outer part of
Ise Shrine, about 90 minutes
by train south of Nagoya:

Ise Shrine is one of
the preeminent shrines in Japan. It has two parts: geku - the outer shrine
and naiku
- the inner shrine. There is a tradition of rebuilding the
shrine every twenty years,
using cedar wood from the Kiso
area north east of Nagoya.
